It is a moment of total darkness - you can't see! You have no idea what to do; where to go; what to think or who to turn to. So what do you do? You lift your eyes up to the Master of the World and scream: "Hashem I know you love me. I know that You are going to help me out of this mess."
When you do this, you are like that first stubborn Jew who saw the Egyptions advancing from behind and the sea before him. Having no choice but to Believe - he threw himself into the sea - the water was already up to his mouth - only then did Hashem part the sea - when He saw that man's courage - his Faith was so strong.
Do yourself a favor and don't count on anything in this life - except your Faith. As it says, "the Faith is in the night" (in the darkness).
"I'm choosing You, Hashem. I know that You will never leave me. As it says, "The person whose confidence is in Hashem, Grace will surround him." With this you will succeed for sure - beyond what you could ever imagine.
If then you see the situation is still worsening say: "Hashem I trusted You and everything is falling apart. What's going on here?" Then just hold on and stubbornly refuse to stop believing in the power of Hashem's deliverance even while you are falling apart. Remember what Rebbe Nachman screamed out with his last ounce of strength, with blood pouring out of his mouth from the tuberculosis - Never give up - Never!
Then Hashem will never let you hit the ground. He will catch you and hold you securely. May it be so.
With Love,
Dr. Zev Ballen
