Every individual must find his own 'melody' - his own special talents, abilities and character traits that enable him to accomplish his own unique mission. we should serve Hashem in a manner that best suits our individual personalities without comparing ourselves to anyone. when you realize you have your own melody you don't have to step to any ones else's cadence. You no longer compare yourself, or persecute yourself with questions that rob you of your confidence, self-image and inner peace. A person who looks too often to the side when he is driving is likely to crash. It is also dangerous for a person to look behind him too often - namely the past. Remember what happened to Lot's wife? The Angel warned her not to look back, but she did and was turned into a pillar of salt.

Your right. That's why we need daily rituals to get us conditioned think and act according to our goals.
