Let's Speak

A young baby can't even lift his head, or speak when he's hungry or cold, so instead, he screams and he cries to tell his parents he wants something, or that he's in pain. If you're a two year old, that's an age-appropriate and effective way to get your mom's attention and love. Power Parenting

Today's broadcast is called Power Parenting.  G-d Willing you can see the broadcast today, Wednesday at 5:00 PM Israel time at the Chut Shel Chessed Yeshiva, 13 Shmuel Hanavi Street, Jerusalem, in the main sanctuary.  The broadcast, as well as our lessons posted from now on - are Mac and iPod compatible. If you tune in too early to the live broadcast link, you'll be sent to the main page of the Breslev Israel website, so try to tune in on time as follows:

2012 is ending with the whole world tensed for 'war' in once way or another. Here in the Middle East, it's being fought with rockets and air planes; in other places, it's being waged with guns and knives; in still other places, the battle is to stay afloat financially, or to stay sane when the pressures are mounting daily. Whatever war we happen to be fighting, or caught up in, there is only one way to win it: we need to work on ourselves, and to fix what we need to fix, with Hashem's help. Even when we find ourselves in the toughest times, and the hardest circumstances, G-d is still very close to us. He's right here, ready to listen to us at any moment, night and day. He wants to retract all the severity and strictness that He's pumping out into the world. Let's remember that G-d's main characteristic is love and kindness, but when we don't listen, then He has to up the ante. The wake up calls get bigger and louder, until we all recognize that if nothing changes, then nothing changes - and G-d forbid, then everything could change very suddenly and dramatically, because we're refused to respond to G-d's messages, or pay them any attention.

The Ultimate Marriage

Peace in the home ranks first in importance when it comes to serving Hashem. Marital peace is the primary receptacle of Divine Illumination in the world. The happier the marriage, the more the couple actually feels Hashem's presence in their midst.  Anyone who faithfully follows our guidelines for marriage is guaranteed to taste the sweetness of true marital bliss.

Carry this prayer by Rabbi Arush with you and read it whenever you need inspiration. Men or women can use this: 

Master of the Universe, have mercy on my wife/husband, on my children, on me, and on all those who are dependent on me.  Let me understand that my happiness and success depends on my wife's/husband's happiness, namely, that she/he feels that she's/he's the most important part of my life.  Master of the Universe, have mercy on me and instill in my heart an abundance of love for my wife/husband, a love that is greater than anything in the world. Have mercy on me so that my heart won't tempt me in any way whatsoever. Help me to successfully withstand all the trials and tests that come my way, and that I will always place my wife/husband and her/his needs, aspirations, and desires above everything else.  Let me internalize the knowledge that this is Your desire in Your Divine wisdom. Let my wife/husband feel that she's/he's truly the most important part of my life.

Thought for the Day

True love is a passion to give to the one you love before giving to yourself; it is a concern with the other's welfare that transcends your concern for yourself; it is a belief rooted in emuna that through nullification of yourself to your partner you are fulfilling the main reason that you were brought into the world.

Research shows we prefer people like ourselves - but we actually grow more spiritually from people who are not like us. A father and son with "apparently" very different styles were put into the same family to complete something in each other - but they could only start doing that once they were no longer opposing each other.
